Chemex Coffee Maker - Classic Six Cup

The Chemex Six Cup Classic

The Chemex Coffeemaker is an elegant, one-piece, hourglass-shaped vessel made of high quality, heat resistant glass. The traditional model comes to you with a polished wood collar and leather tie. The collar serves as an insulated handle around the middle of the coffeemaker.

The Chemex 3-6 Cup Classic delivers a noticeably pure flavour experience!

Made of non-porous Borosilicate glass which will not absorb odours or chemical residues. The Chemex pour-over allows coffee to be covered and refrigerated for reheating without losing flavour. It is simple and very easy to use with a timeless, elegant design.

Few products in this century can match the flawless blending of design and function of the Chemex. Its visual elegance has earned it a place in the permanent collection of New York's Corning Museum of Glass. The Chemex coffeemaker was also selected by the Illinois Institute of Technology as one of the 100 best-designed products of modern times.

The Chemex® coffeemaker, together with Chemex-Bonded® Coffee Filter, makes perfect coffee. Clear, pure, flavourful and without bitterness or sediment every time. The coffee only comes in contact with the scientifically designed filter and non-porous glass. With the Chemex® method, you can make coffee as strong as you like without bitterness. Perfect for iced coffee and coffee flavouring for gourmet recipes. Because of its purity, Chemex® brewed coffee can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for reheating...without losing its flavour!

The Chemex Coffeemaker was invented in 1941 by Dr Peter Schlumbohm PhD. Made simply from non-porous, borosilicate glass and fastened with a wood collar and tie, it brews coffee without imparting any flavours of its own. On permanent display at MOMA NY and other fine museums, it is truly a work of art.

How to make a coffee with the Chemex Pour-over Coffee Maker

  1. Boil water and let it cool for approx 90 seconds minutes - required temperature is 90-95 degrees Celsius.
  2. Place Chemex Filter into your Chemex with the thicker part and folds towards the spout.
  3. Wet the filter with some of your hot water to rinse it and heat the glass.
  4. Empty out the hot water before starting to brew.
  5. Grind your coffee to a medium-coarse grind (almost as coarse as French Press).
  6. Put ~6g of ground coffee into the filter per 100ml (60g/litre).
  7. Bloom the coffee grounds for 30-40 seconds by pouring in just enough water to achieve this.
  8. Slowly pour in the rest of your water in a circular motion.
  9. Once you've poured in all your water (125ml per cup or 250ml per mug), let it all filter through (this should take ~3-4 mins).
  10. Remove the filter, pour your coffee & enjoy!
